CAIRO – 12 September 2019: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has inaugurated a rehabilitation center for people with special needs, established by the Ministry of Interior, in the 10th of Ramdan City.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the participation of representatives and officials from ministries of education, youths and sports, social solidarity and the governor of Ash Sharqia Governorate.

The Prime Minister and the audience toured the center, during which they listened to an explanation on the role of the center and its capabilities in serving persons with special needs. It was build on a 24 thousand m2 land, with 70% green space.

The implementation took place within a period not exceeding four months, following directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, to pay attention to the services provided to people with special needs and work to integrate them into society, in addition to strengthening the social role of the ministry.

It is worth mentioning that President Sisi announced last year establishing a technical center for services for disabled persons, to be the first of its kind in Africa.

The center will enable people with hearing or speech related disability to use technology to communicate through mobile phones.

During the inauguration of the 7th International Conference on Information Technology Convergence and Services for People with Disabilities (ICT4PwDs), Sisi also announced establishing an initiative that aims to enable disabled people to get services and information introduced by online websites of governmental institutions.
