NETFLIX CREATIVE EQUITY FUND TO BENEFIT AFRICAN WOMEN

The recently established Netflix Creative Equity Fund will identify, train and provide job opportunities to new talents in Africa and other underrepresented communities.  Annually, the Fund will provide $20 million in the next five years to encourage communities to participate more in TV and film industries and other Netflix programs.

During the recent celebration of International Women’s Day in March 2021, Netflix announced that the first $5 million of the Fund would be directed towards programs that not only nurture, but also develop and uplift women in entertainment.

Observers are hoping that this Fund will help eliminate the often-held belief that entertainment business in Africa is for men only.  Therefore, the Netflix Fund could result in more women to seeking and exploring opportunities and positions in the movie industry.
