Tunisia: Intelligent Robot Jasmin to Help Fight COVID-19 in Tunisia

(TAP)– Jasmin, a 100% made in Tunisia intelligent robot, will assist as of Friday the medical staff of the COVID-19 unit at Sahloul university hospital, Sousse. This is a first in Tunisia and Africa. The main mission of Jasmin is to reduce and streamline the workload in the hospital and minimize interaction between healthcare personnel and COVID-19 patients.

The robot helps, through a triage system, direct patients with suspected COVID-19 to the relevant circuit. Using a thermographic camera, Jasmin takes temperature and oxygen measurements and diagnoses patients upon arrival.

Humanoid is endowed with a new chat-bot that ensures an autonomous navigation and a friendly interaction with patients since the conversation will be made in Tunisian dialect.

The robot also offers assistance to doctors, allowing them to monitor the condition of patients and make a diagnosis without direct contact.

This technological innovation is the fruit of collaboration between Enova Robotics, a leading startup in robotics and artificial intelligence, and ICOMPASS, a deep learning startup particularly known for the Tunisian dialect adopted in most of its solutions, including “3ziza chat-bot” used by the Ministry of Health during the COVID-19 crisis.
