Uganda retain Nations Cup in Bosch Badminton event

KAMPALA. Uganda re-affirmed her dominance in the region by reclaiming the Nations Cup in the Bosch East Africa Badminton Challenge Cup last Sunday.

Uganda held off eternal rivals Kenya to rubberstamp her dominance over the old enemy enroute a third straight crown.

The Nations Cup was just one of several categories that were competed for amongst the 900 participants who entered the annual competition, now in its fourth edition.

Mbogo High defended the schools trophy after sweeping every age category save for the girls U-13 group. The University category was taken by UCU, who once again showcased their sporting prowess in another indoor discipline. Sponsors City Tyres meanwhile successfully defended their crown among the corporates.

Badminton coach Simon Mugabi noted an improvement in the standards of the game and emphasised that focus would now be concentrated in the schools for the country to unearth future stars.
