This proverb cautions us to be critical sometimes and look beyond what we see. Remember the old saying that “all that glitters is not gold.” Often, it is necessary for us to use wisdom and look beyond the surface of people or events. There may be more to the things we are told and shown. But only when look critically would we be able to properly see what is really going on.
