This proverb reminds us of the values and virtues of experience. Even though we may learn a lot through school and training, that is not the same as learning from experience. The wisdom that comes from experience is like a library which must not be left to waste. Therefore, our elders often caution us to learn from past experience and never let it go to waste. One who fails to learn from past experience is like a basket that continues to waste water.
